Korsikov released their Self-Titled album

The Greek Sludge Rock'n'Rollers Korsikov released (finally!!!) their debut self-titled album on 11 June 2016 via Fuzz.Ink Records.

Korsikov formed in 2005 by Stavros, Farsalas and Yiannis as a way to express their “creativity” as well as to play music that they would love to hear and have a good time hanging out together. Trying to find their sonic identity, they changed the line-up playing as a guitar-bass-drums trio, over additional band members on bass, to finally become a guitar-drums-guitar power trio. In 2011 Korsikov participated in the underground compilation “Miss Fortune was a Henhouse Manager” by Spinalonga records contributing the track “Liqweedator”. Following this release they come to present their first official recording through their self titled EP in 2016.

When in our early days Mitsos from Released Anger came in rehearsal one night and proposed to play bass, making us aware about counting and actually composing songs, instead of just shredding away. Another special moment is the fact that we are still together as a band that somehow managed, despite our everyday lives, to still find time to get together and rock out. Also, the many great people we got to know over the years that support our music and friends we have become through this. Of course, the day our first release came out, after all these years!

Our first EP was (in)officially released on the 11th of June 2016 through the independent label Fuzz.Ink records. Recorded live and mixed from July to September 2014 by Korsikov and Stavros Georgiopoulos at ΗΧΟΣΤΑΣΙΟ Studio, and mastered at Audiosiege Studios in Portland, USA by Brad Boatright, we managed to collect and present our musical and artistic influences through a variety of styles and genres spanning over six songs, maintaining our own musical identity at the same time. Main thought was to professionally capture a sound and production, as close as it would get to a live performance of the band. To achieve that, we didn’t overdo the takes and added just as much overdubs and effects to achieve this “live” feeling at the same time as keeping things neat and organized. After all, we love to play live, a fact we want to communicate through our record as well.

The whole concept of the artwork goes a very long way back in the years. Around 1999-2000 Stavros and Farsalas, both students at the time, became friends and started to share music and ideas. Stavros came up with the thought that if he had a band there should be a specific picture on the cover. After some 5 years Stavros and Farsalas became friends with Yiannis, formed KORSIKOV and now almost 17 years after that idea sparked, it finally is on a cover of a record of our band. Enough with the sentimentals though. The whole artwork was made possible through the collaboration of KORSIKOV, 83105 Δάμος who shot the photos and the guys at Fuzz Ink Studios who put the whole thing together offering also their artistic advice.
