Wish Upon A Star & Dead Koys - While Touring Interview

Hello once again. One more interview but a bit weird, ill explain. Today I will interview our dearest friends Wish Upon A Star and Dead Koys while they are touring in central Europe. Let’s see what is going on in that van!!
Hello guy’s! How many people are in your touring van?

Wuas & Dk - Hey ! We´re 9 people in the most adventure filled van ever !

How is the touring life? Tell us the bad and the good when you are in so little space so many people.

Wuas & Dk - The most fun part is that you get to spend much time with your best friends , but some times snoaring and smelly feet test your patience every day ! Some brotherly fights all a part of our routine , but it always ends with smiles and high fives !

5 country’s , 15 show’s more than 1 month on the road. How hard is to book a gig out of your borders? Any tips for the bands that thinking to do the same but the don’t know how?

Wuas & Dk - To be correct it´s 16 days and 15 shows ! Booking a tour takes a lot of effort and patience. You have to get your planning right , about cities and venues. Then you have to send a tone of emails to fully book it. But our scene is based on helping each other and it´s full of kind hearted people that always take good care of bands on the road ! The best tip is to search for random guys like us around Europe ! Be confident and go for it , it´s all about trial and error.

Where are you now?

Wuas & Dk - Right now we`re on our way from Bavaria to Mainz.

Let’s separate the bands for a while. W.U.A.S. this is your second European tour, you ever rest?

Actually it´s our forth European tour now and we still need more tours to go. Two tours per year is not that much of hard work.

On January was with the Greek punk band Despite Everything. Now is with Germans punks Dead Koys. How you pick which band you will tour with?

Despite Everything chose us , but we had lots of long talks about touring together and it finally happened last January. We met with Dead Koys on our previous summer tour , we played two shows with the guys we hang out and became good friends. The choice is about touring with a band that you are comfortable sharing a van , floors , couches and the stage together and also the same passion for music and being out on the road.

2 years passed from your “Something to Hold Onto” release any thoughts for something new?

We currently write new songs for our 3rd release that will probably be out by the Spring of 2015.

Any show in Athens after the tour?

Still nothing planned !

Dead Koys turn. Who had that stupid idea to tour with W.U.A.S., am joking of course but how all this happened?

It all started in june last year, on a sunny saturday in Berlin.. Our show for that night had been cancelled very spontaniously, so we called WUAS which we had supported one day before in Hameln. They had a show in Leipzig and put us in the set in the very last minute. After that we had a great party and this idea came to our minds.. at the beginning we thought that could happen 'maybe', but George said: 'Don't say maybe, we gonna tour together, it's a fact!'

Your new EP “Sensitivities” is out what’s the feedback so far?

Actually it's not that new any more ... so far we're pretty satisfied with the feedback we got, most of the fanzines and critizisers liked it.

How is the punk scene in your area? Any good opportunities?

It's running well at the moment. With two new DIY-venues there's some fresh wind coming up in Dortmund.

Any plans to play a gig in Greece?

We already thought about this last autumn ... finally it didn't work out, but it's still an interesting idea for us which hopefully becomes possible next year.

This is the last section for this interview its “Free Mode” say whatever you want to close this interview. FYI am waiting tones photos to upload with this interview.

WUAS & DK: Philip loves Pivo !
