Voodoo Vegas Interview

Welcome to Full Throttle (Radio Show) blog it’s a great honor to meet you even through this interview.

Jonno: It’s great to meet you virtually too!

How music in general affects your life in daily routine?

Jonno: Music plays a massive part in my daily routine; I wake up to my favorite songs and will not leave the house without my Iphone for music, It’s a great way to relieve stress and just express yourself in general. Anyone who knows me will vouch that you can always catch me rockin’ out to something, somewhere!

Is Rock philosophy still alive or it's not the same anymore?

Jonno: Wow that’s a great question, I Would have to say that the main point of loving the music that you hear from the rock genre is still there, but the way the music is advertised and put across into the media has changed greatly. People also don’t tend to make as much of an effort as they used to say in the 80,s & 90’s to go see the good local bands in their area which then means these bands are left struggling to even get heard. So in that sense the Philosophy of it is very different to how it used to be.

If you could change something, what would it be?

Jonno: I would certainly change the attitude some venues/promoters have towards bands in the UK. You are frequently treated as a burden in some venues and even though you’re playing for that venue, thus making them money from entry fees. It’s very disheartening also to setup/perform in a rushed scene. It’s a struggle to even get a drink at some venues, yet when you play in anywhere in Europe you get treated with a very welcoming atmosphere, they always make you feel relaxed and often put you up and feed you for the night!

Band creation was a target from the beginning or this need came after?
Law: When we first started we just wanted to write killer songs, play as many shows as possible, and push this band as far as we can go. That idea has not changed We have achieved more than I ever thought we would when we started on this crazy journey in music, but that doesn’t make me happy. Ive been bitten by the music bug and I will always want more.

How you began the band story thing and how was the course until now?

Law: Nick and myself started the band, Ash joined soon after that, we spent a few years playing shows around the UK, then in 2008 we decided we wanted a bigger sound and then Meryl joined the band as our 2nd guitarist. When she first joined it was like the glue between the cracks was being filled, it made the bands sound even bigger. Finally Jonno joined in October 2013 after we spent years working with many different drummers. I think it’s far to the Voodoo Vegas are sounding the best we ever have right now.

Choose only one artist that you would like to work with and share your thoughts with us?

Jonno: For me personally it would have to be Iron Maiden, Those guys are a great band and they have maintained a high standard of excellence on their records and live performances throughout their musical career. The idea of working with those guys on a track would blow my mind, Bruce Dickinson is an incredibly talented guy and Nicko blows my mind on drums…. He literally is an Animal! So that would be a great collaboration in my eyes!

What’s the current status of the band?

Jonno: We are currently frequently gigging promoting “The Rise Of Jimmy Silver” and performing some of our new songs which will be appearing on our next album, which I think should be out sometime in 2015. One thing that is going to be great is to play with Y&T in Barcelona, and then some follow up dates supporting them on their 40th Anniversary tour in Holland and Belgium, that is going to rock! We are also heading out to Tribal fest in the summer period, along with performing with The Answer at a festival in Germany!
