Dopelord Interview

Here we go again. One more Smoke the Fuzz gig, one more band visiting our country for the first time & one more interview for us. Hello DOPELORDs, welcome to our blog, how are you?

Klusek: We’re high, thank you!

First of all, I hope you ‘re gonna be chattier than your relative and from the same country band, Belzebong. As I hope for the best, I will ask : how did Dopelord start as a band?

Well, it all begun in 2010, in Lublin, Poland. Miodek and me wanted to finally start making music we both listened to. The opportunity appeared and we decided to take it. Quite simple, but it was enough to summon Dopelord from the tombs of Lublin.

Try to describe your music for the people that will read this interview.

I believe that it would be a real horror if people could only read about music hahaha. Fortunately everyone can download our tunes and hear for themselves. But ok, I can try and describe it for you. It’s heavy, dirty and full of fuzz yet quite melodic, sometimes groovy and filled with riffs and smoke.

You have released 2 CDs so far, “Magick Rites” back in 2011 and “Black Arts, Riff Worship & Weed Cult” last year. Which are the major differences between those two albums?

First album was straight forward, simple and barbaric. The second is more complex and better sounding. Or at least that was the plan.

I am really curious, how come you ‘ve released your latest album on a cassette?

Supply and demand, man. Believe it or not, there are people out there that do listen to cassettes. “Magick Rites” was released on tape as well. I think it’s the physical format that drags people into tapes. It doesn’t sound as good as vinyl or cd, but people want to be able to touch it, smell it, look at the cover and so on.

Any new plans for recording new material?

Yeah, it’s our circle of life. We record, release and then we work on something new to record. We already got some new tracks ready, I think you’ll hear some of them at the gig.

You are the second band that we are interviewing from Poland, this is happening because your underground music scene is growing bigger or for other reasons?

This all is happening because Elina is a greek goddess, man! But seriously… I don’t know, I’m guessing we have some good bands around here. Some pretty solid stoner/doom riffage going on. I’m quite sure we’re not the last polish band to be interviewed by you.

How do you feel about your upcoming live gig in Greece and what do you expect from the Greeks?

We are soooo hyped! It’s gonna be our first time in Greece, so we don’t exactly know what to expect, really. Ok, we expect it to be fucking awesome hahaha. We hope we will all have great fun, that’s it.

Any other touring plans for 2015?

There’s always something going on, but Athens are in the center of our universe right now.

Ok we are done, this is the famous “Free Mode” section. Say whatever you want to finish this interview. We are looking forward to your gig on the 18th of April with Stoned Jesus in Athens. Till then… Bongs Up!!

Smoke weed, drink beer, enjoy the riffs and prosper!
